8.1 Information Systems and Technology (IST)

Preparing Your Thesis for Electronic Submission

Thesis are prepared with a variety of applications, (i.e. Word, WordPerfect, LaTex, etc.) all such thesis can be submitted electronically, but are required to be printed to .pdf.

Information on how to prepare your thesis for electronic submission, how to submit your thesis electronically, available courses, and other related topics (including how to convert a document to a .pdf format) is available at:

Getting Help With Preparing Your Thesis on the Computer

IST runs a series of computer skill development seminars every two months. These usually include introductory sessions on Word and LaTeX, and frequently include sessions aimed specifically at preparing your thesis with these packages. Information about these seminars can be found on the World Wide Web under Information Systems and Technology (IST).

The IST Customer Support Centre, MC 1052, ext. 3488, has a software help desk, and provides access to laser printers for thesis printing on a 600 dots per inch printer at a cost of eight cents a page, fifteen cents for a double sided page.

8.2 Duplicating Services

The Graphics Department on the UW campus offers complete services in design, typesetting, fine printing, copying and laser printing (photocopying and laser, both black and white and colour), and photography.
